Refractory Brick

Refractory materials are generally divided into two types, namely unshaped refractory materials and shaped refractory materials. Unshaped refractory materials are also called refractory castables, and shaped refractory materials generally refer to refractory bricks, whose shape has standard rules, and can also be temporarily processed during construction and cutting according to needs.

Classification of refractory bricks

According to the different components of refractory bricks, they can be divided into five categories, namely: silicon-aluminum series refractory bricks, alkaline series refractory bricks, carbon-containing refractory bricks, zirconium-containing refractory bricks, and heat-insulating refractory bricks.

  1. Si-alumina refractory bricks mainly include silica bricks, fire clay brick, high alumina refractory bricks, and corundum refractory bricks.
  2. Alkaline series refractory bricks mainly include magnesia refractory bricks, dolomite bricks, etc.
  3. Carbon-containing refractory bricks mainly include carbon bricks, graphite refractory bricks, and silicon carbide refractory bricks.
  4. Zirconium-containing refractory bricks mainly include zircon bricks, AZS fused bricks, AZS re-sintered fused bricks, and zirconium-mullite fused bricks.
  5. Insulation refractory bricks mainly include high aluminum insulation brick, clay insulation bricks, aluminum bubble brick, mullite insulation brick, etc.

Application of different types of refractory bricks

  1. Fire clay bricks are mainly used in thermal boilers, glass kilns, cement kilns, fertilizer gas furnaces, blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, coking furnaces, electric furnaces, cast bricks, etc.
  2. High alumina bricks are mainly used for masonry lining of blast furnaces, hot blast stoves, electric furnace roofs, blast furnaces, reverberatory furnaces, and rotary kilns.
  3. Corundum bricks are mainly used in ironmaking blast furnaces and blast furnace hot blast stoves, refining furnaces outside steelmaking furnaces, sliding water heaters, glass melting furnaces, and petrochemical industrial furnaces.
  4. Silica brick is an acidic refractory material, mainly used in coke ovens, ironmaking hot blast stoves and glass melting furnaces, etc.
  5. Magnesia bricks are mainly used for lining of steelmaking furnaces, ferroalloy fiber cable furnaces in the iron and steel industry, nonferrous metallurgical industrial furnaces, construction industrial furnaces, glass furnaces, cement kilns, calcining kilns, shaft kilns, tunnel kilns, etc.
  6. Mullite bricks are widely used in slag gasification furnaces, synthetic ammonia conversion furnaces, carbon black reaction furnaces, refractory kilns, hot blast stove tops, blast furnace shafts, furnace bottoms, glass melting furnace regenerators, and ceramic high-temperature furnaces.
